Ventas navideñas aumentan un 19% en comparación a diciembre del año pasado y le dan un respiro al comercio

Una positiva sorpresa es la que ha dado la temporada navideña al comercio. Pese a la preocupante escalada de contagios en el país y las mayores restricciones sanitarias que aquello ha traído a distintos puntos del territorio nacional, como una Región Metropolitana que se apronta a cumplir dos semanas en Fase 2 del plan Paso a Paso -lo que implica fines de semana en cuarentena-, desde la Cámara Nacional de Comercio (CNC) hacen hasta ahora un buen balance.

«Nosotros temíamos que los cierres sábado y domingo iban a causar más daño que el que causó, para ser honesto», dijo Manuel Melero, presidente de la CNC, considerando que los dos últimos fines de semana, en los que el comercio no esencial no ha podido operar en la capital, son quizás los más importante de todo el año para el sector.

En ese sentido, Melero subrayó que durante la primera quincena de diciembre las ventas «han repuntado 19%» respecto al mismo periodo de 2019. «Las ventas han sido muy buenas, pese al cierre de los fines de semana, especialmente para los grandes operadores, o sea, los malls, supermercados y multitiendas».

Eso sí, expuso que el pequeño comercio no ha tenido la misma suerte, desde donde no han subido ni bajado sus cifras respecto al año pasado, sino que «se estancaron, no han tenido el mismo repunte». El líder la CNC comentó que las ventas online y la inyección de liquidez gracias a las ayudas estatales y los dos retiros desde los fondos de pensiones han jugado un rol clave durante esta temporada de Navidad, añadiendo además que «la gente anticipó mucho sus compras a principios de diciembre. Es decir, antes de que se declarara la Fase 2 en la Región Metropolitana la gente ya había hecho la mayoría de sus compras, el 80% ya se había realizado a principios de mes».
