Producción de Escondida disminuyó 8,4% a septiembre por menor ley de cobre

La esperada caída en la ley de cobre de Escondida provocó una menor producción de 8,4% en el periodo enero-septiembre de 2019, en comparación con el mismo lapso del año anterior. En tanto, las ganancias e impuestos disminuyeron en un 20% y 25% respectivamente, según lo informado por la compañía.

La producción en los nueve primeros meses fue de 870.970 toneladas, compuesta por 689.210 toneladas de cobre contenido en concentrados y 181.760 toneladas de cátodos. Esto representó un 8,4% de menor producción con respecto a las 950.889 toneladas producidas en similar lapso de 2018, principalmente debido a la menor ley de cobre, conforme a lo esperado.

Los ingresos ordinarios asociados a ventas fueron US$5.094 millones, lo que representó una disminución de 12% en doce meses. Esto fue principalmente como consecuencia del menor precio (US$2,74 /lb versus US$3,01/lb) y la baja en producción.

Los costos (excluidos costos financieros netos) fueron de US$3.470 millones, un 6% más bajos que en el mismo periodo de 2018.
