Las comunidades indígenas que comprenden a medio millón de personas en todo el mundo son especialmente vulnerables a la nueva pandemia de coronavirus debido a malas condiciones de vida, advirtió el lunes la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS).
El director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus dijo que al 6 de julio se habían reportado más de 170.000 casos entre los pueblos indígenas en América, con más de 2.000 muertes.
Instó a las naciones a tomar todas las precauciones de salud necesarias, con especial énfasis en el rastreo de contactos, para tratar de frenar la propagación de la enfermedad covid-19.
