Participación femenina representa un 8,9% de la fuerza laboral en el rubro minero

La minería, una de las principales actividades económicas de nuestro país y que representa el 10% del PIB anual, siempre se ha visto como un rubro de hombres, sin embargo, el reciente estudio “Mujer y Minería” del Consejo de Competencias Mineras (CCM) reveló que las empresas cada vez están integrando a más perfiles femeninos y hoy ya representan un 8,9% de la fuerza laboral.
Según explica la gerente de la entidad, Verónica Fincheira, “la implementación de diversas acciones por parte de compañías mineras, para aportar a las políticas de igualdad y a la eliminación de prácticas discriminatorias, ha generado el aumento en la participación y la permanencia de las mujeres en la industria”.
Lo anterior generó que la contratación subiera de 9,1% a 17,3% entre el 2012 y 2019, consiguiendo que actualmente 8,9% de la fuerza laboral de la industria sean mujeres. “Es un gran avance en términos de inclusión y esperamos que para el 2024, donde se requerirán más de 30.000 trabajadores en la industria, un porcentaje mayor sean mujeres”, declaró Fincheira.
Además, con el fin de aumentar la inscripción a carreras técnicas y profesionales, el CCM lanzó recientemente Ser Minería, la plataforma que orienta a los jóvenes interesados en el rubro y que cuenta con un test vocacional donde el estudiante podrá ver qué área tiene más afinidades con su perfil, conocer la demanda de su puesto de trabajo y proyecciones laborales.
