Ocho años de cárcel: Justicia de Ecuador ratifica condena contra Correa
El Tribunal de Casación de la Corte Nacional de Justicia (CNJ) de Ecuador ratificó una condena de ocho años para el expresidente del país, Rafael Correa, anunciando “Sobornos 2012-2016” como la causa de esta decisión. Junto con el exmandatario, también fueron procesados otros exfuncionarios por cohecho agravado.
Con este fallo judicial Rafael Correa no podrá presentarse como candidato en las próximas elecciones, que tendrán lugar en 2021. Además, fue inhabilitado por 25 años para ocupar cargos públicos. El propio Correa no tardó en expresarse sobre la situación y el fallo judicial en su contra, afirmando que con esta inhabilitación “lo único que hacen es aumentar el apoyo popular”.
El exmandatario, que en los comicios de febrero intentó presentarse a la candidatura de vicepresidente desde Bélgica, cuestionó la decisión judicial después de que Pamela Martínez, exasesora presidencial, fuera liberada y su condena fuera rebajada tras acusar al propio presiden.
