Minera Candelaria implementa sistema de operación teleremota a flota de perforadoras en el Open Pit

El proyecto contempla la operación a distancia de las perforadoras Pit Viper 351, que se realizará desde una sala integrada ubicada a tres kilómetros del rajo mina.

Un proyecto de operación teleremota de perforadoras que apunta a mejorar la calidad de vida del trabajador en su puesto de trabajo, su seguridad y -al mismo tiempo- mejorar la productividad de la flota de equipos a través de un uso más eficiente, está implementando Minera Candelaria.

El proyecto consiste en la operación a distancia de las perforadoras Pit Viper 351, que se realizará desde una sala integrada que se ubica a aproximadamente a tres kilómetros del rajo mina, donde sus operadores tendrán el control total de los equipos.

Este sistema, que está en la etapa final de pruebas y que se estima esté plenamente operativo en las próximas semanas, tiene importantes ventajas tales como reducir la exposición de los trabajadores a las condiciones de seguridad y ambientales propias de la operación; ahorro de tiempo, dado que se evitan los traslados; un desempeño más preciso de la perforadora y por lo tanto, mayor eficiencia operacional; además del aumento de la confiabilidad de los equipos al ser operados dentro de límites pre establecidos y a través de secuencias automatizadas.

Respecto a esta iniciativa, Arnaldo Burdiles, gerente de Mantención Mina, indicó que “con su implementación, estamos dando un paso importante en el uso de tecnología e innovación, aportando significativamente a mejorar los procesos productivos de Minera Candelaria. En este sentido, a fines de agosto finalizará la etapa de prueba de todas las funciones del sistema, el que se está realizando desde la sala de control implementada para este objetivo y en la que -además- están siendo capacitados los actuales operadores de estas perforadoras”.
