Mindep realiza la primera Encuesta Nacional de Actividad Física y Deportes en Sudamérica en niños y jóvenes

La primera Encuesta Nacional de Actividad Física y Deporte en menores de 5 a 17 años realizada en Sudamérica se hizo en Chile. El Ministerio del Deporte, con la Universidad de Concepción como organismo ejecutor, buscó enfocarse en este grupo etario para sacar conclusiones sobre el comportamiento y actividad de los menores de edad, abarcando un universo de 5.052 personas de tamaño muestral. El período de aplicación de la encuesta fue entre octubre y noviembre de 2019, y de ella se pueden sacar muchas conclusiones que permitirán direccionar las políticas, planes y programas de actividad física y deporte ejecutados a través de la Subsecretaría del Deporte e Instituto Nacional de Deportes.

Para este estudio, se categorizó a los menores en base a las recomendaciones de la OMS. Se establece que en niños/as y jóvenes entre 5 y 17 años la actividad física consiste en juegos, deportes, desplazamientos, actividades recreativas, educación física o ejercicios programados, en el contexto de la familia, la escuela o las actividades comunitarias.

Según la OMS, es recomendable un mínimo de 60 minutos diarios de actividades físicas de intensidad moderada a vigorosa.

Menor Activo: Realización de actividad física y/o deportiva con una frecuencia mínima de 60 minutos todos los días.

Menor Parcialmente Activo: Realización de actividad física y/o deportiva con una frecuencia mínima de 60 minutos por 3 días.

Menor Inactivo: Realización de actividad física y/o deportiva con una frecuencia menor a 60 minutos por 3 días.

“La encuesta nos señala que el mayor factor de relevancia de la actividad física es la motivación y el ejemplo de algún familiar que sea referente en esta materia. El problema es que en población adulta cerca del 80% no realiza actividad física. Por otra parte, los padres entregan toda esta responsabilidad a los establecimientos educacionales, los que no pueden cumplir estas expectativas. Por ende, se deben realizar acciones complementarias en el territorio que fortalezcan las acciones de actividad física familiar, sobre todo los días sábado y domingo que es donde los niños, niñas y adolescentes no cumplen los mínimos establecidos que ordena la Organización Mundial de la Salud, que son 60 minutos al día”, afirma la Ministra del Deporte Cecilia Pérez.

La Región con índices más altos de actividad física en este segmento etario es la Región de Los Lagos, seguida por Arica y Parinacota y Magallanes.

El Ministerio del Deporte, en los últimos años ha desarrollado acciones y programas para lograr el objetivo principal: que el deporte y la actividad física sean un hábito en la temprana edad.

“El Plan Nacional de Actividad Física, Educación Física y Deporte Escolar (2019-2028) es un proyecto que se basa en programas como Crecer en Movimiento y Promesas Chile, más otros que desarrollan otros Ministerios para visibilizar y dar una mayor calidad a la Educación Física. Los objetivos de Crecer en Movimiento, son lograr instalar la educación física y la salud como una asignatura central de la educación escolar, enmarcado dentro del proceso de formación integral del ser humano. Dicho programa incorpora el concepto de calidad en la actividad física, resguardando que las actividades se realicen con un correcto uso de los minutos de la clase y en base a los objetivos y mejoras que se pretenden alcanzar”, agrega la Ministra Pérez.
