Tras sumar seis derrotas consecutivas, y alcanzar un rendimiento de solo 28%, Mario Salas fue despedido de la banca de Alianza Lima. Sin embargo, el técnico nacional no habría aceptado la decisión, puesto que esperaba la cancelación de su indemnización correspondiente a 14 sueldos, mientras que la directiva solo le cancelaría el monto de tres salarios.
No obstante, y a pesar de las amenazas de seguir los trabajos con el plantel, el “Comandante” habría llegado a un acuerdo con la dirigencia del club peruano para dejar la institución.
Así lo informó el Líbero, el cual aseguró que Salas llegó a un consenso con la directiva, rescindiendo oficialmente su contrato.
De esta forma, Mario Salas dejó Alianza Lima luego de haber disputado 19 partidos en el banco, con 9 derrotas, 7 empates y dos victorias, rescatando solo 15 puntos de los 54 que disputó.
