En medio de una reunión de trabajo y coordinación con todo el equipo administrativo, técnico y profesional de la Asociación de Productores y Exportadores Agrícolas del Valle de Copiapó, se realizó el cambio de mando en la presidencia de APECO AG, donde Lina Arrieta Herrera, tras 6 años liderando la organización (2014-2020), hizo entrega del cargo a Mario Holvoet Castillo, elegido por el Directorio para tales efectos.

Mario Holvoet asume la presidente con muchas ganas, es productor y exportador del Valle de Copiapó, es parte de una familia muy conocida en la zona y de una trayectoria de décadas como agricultores.

La presidenta saliente, Lina Arrieta, no pudo contener su emoción de dejar el cargo y enorgullecerse de que sea Mario Holvoet su sucesor, un hombre – dijo ella – con todas las competencias para liderar APECO.

Sin embargo, aclaró que seguirá de igual manera ligada a la asociación gremial a cargo del desarrollo del protocolo del Systems Approach para salir con la fruta a los EE.UU sin tener que fumigarla, siendo este tema uno de los principales desafíos de APECO.

“Esta es una iniciativa que venimos trabajando con mucho éxito y con apoyo de CORFO desde hace 4 años, voy a seguir apoyando en esta materia a solicitud del nuevo Directorio para que les acompañe en todas las gestiones con el Ministerio de Agricultura, la Dirección Regional del SAG y el Seremi de Agricultura, y donde también juega un rol importante ASOEX a través de la Fundación para el Desarrollo Frutícola (FDF)”.

Arrieta agregó que uno de los sueños esperados por APECO es exportar con el protocolo del Systems Approach, especialmente – en una primera parte – a través de aquellos campos que cumplan con la normativa que exige los EE.UU., ante lo cual debemos implementar un sitio de inspección para el muestreo de la fruta, un tema que no es menor y que hay que considerar.

Por su parte, el nuevo presidente de la Asociación de Productores y Exportadores Agrícolas del Valle de Copiapó, Mario Holvoet, coincidió con Lina Arrieta en el sentido que dentro de las prioridades de la organización está el de consolidar el Systems Approach para salir con la fruta a los EE.UU, lo cual esperan se pueda materializar a partir de la próxima temporada.

Holvoet subrayó que en el encuentro con el equipo de APECO se partieron materias relativas al Programa Territorial Integrado (PTI), proyecto con cofinanciamiento de CORFO que tiene una gerencia y que está con brechas bastante definidas tendientes a mejorar la exportación de uva de mesa y hacer sustentable este negocio en el tiempo.

Lina Arrieta complementó indicando que también se buscan acciones relativas a hacer más eficiente el recurso hídrico, ver cómo se abren nuevos mercados, cómo se capacita mejor a la gente que trabaja en los campos, el cambio varietal que se viene trabajando desde hace mucho tiempo, inversiones en riego para modernizar lo que tenemos como tecnificación para implementar los avances de última generación.
