La UE pide a China «pruebas» sobre el paradero de Peng Shuai
La Unión Europea (UE) pidió este martes al gobierno chino que entregue «pruebas verificables» sobre el paradero y la seguridad de la tenista Peng Shuai, desaparecida hace cuatro semanas tras denunciar que sufrió abusos sexuales por parte de un exalto cargo del ejecutivo y del Partido Comunista del país.
A través de una nota, la diplomacia europea pide más garantías para creer que Peng Shuai «es libre y no está amenazada», y asegura que su reaparición pública hace una semana en un vídeo difundido por la prensa afín al régimen de Pekín «no alivia las preocupaciones sobre su seguridad y libertad».
También la UE insta a Pekín a realizar una «investigación completa, justa y transparente» sobre las acusaciones de agresión sexual que la tenista dirigió al exvicepresidente chino Zhang Gaoli, que ocupó el cargo entre los años 2012 y 2017.
De esta forma los 27 dejan claro su oposición al «uso de la práctica de la desaparición forzada y la detención arbitraria» y, en este sentido, piden a China que cumpla con los derechos humanos.
