Huracán Laura azota con potencia no vista hace más de un siglo
Laura azota este jueves con fuertes vientos la costa de Luisiana, donde impactó en la madrugada como un huracán categoría 4 que obligó a evacuar a centenares de miles de personas de este estado del sur de Estados Unidos y de su vecino Texas ante la perspectiva de “catastróficas” crecidas.
El meteoro tocó tierra en Cameron, Luisiana, con categoría 4, con vientos de 240 km/h. De acuerdo con CNN, es la tormenta más fuerte registrada en la región en más de 160 años, siendo equiparable con un huracán ocurrido en 1856, el cual también alcanzó vientos de 240 km/h al tocar tierra.
El Centro Nacional de Huracanes (NHC) informó que Laura se adentró en Luisiana a 24 km/h como huracán de categoría 3, con vientos sostenidos de 195 km/h con rachas más fuertes. Más tarde se degradó a categoría 2, manteniendo vientos de hasta 110 km/h.
