Ya se encuentra disponible en YouTube de la Corporación Pro Patrimonio, Cultura y Turismo de Atacama, los realizadores de este video, donde se entrevistan a algunos de los hijos de Roberto Álvarez “El chango Robe” y se muestra como una réplica de esta balsa, navega en las aguas de esta idílica caleta, ubicada al sur de la comuna de Freirina.
Esta obra audiovisual, revela un sentimiento de arraigo y tradición que posee la familia Álvarez Hidalgo de Caleta Chañaral de Aceituno, cuyos registros escritos, fotografías y testimonios autentificados, sirvieron para demostrar que efectivamente ellos son descendientes del último constructor de balsas de cuero de lobo.
La Corporación originaria del puerto de Caldera, nos entrega este nuevo documental sobre el tema, el que prácticamente se ha transformado en saga, ya que este testimonio titulado “Reconocimiento a la memoria y tradición costera”, viene a complementar los producidos hace algunos años, titulados “El ocaso de un legado” y “Navegantes del desierto” y que se refieren justamente, a la construcción de esta balsa que fuera utilizada por los aborígenes changos y los pescadores hasta mediados del siglo XX en las costas de Coquimbo y Atacama, principalmente.
El documental es posible, gracias al FNDR de Cultura 2021 del Gobierno Regional de Atacama, realizado bajo la dirección del profesional Rodrigo Terreros, la producción de Jorge Arévalo y Andrea Arancibia, entre otros audiovisualistas de Atacama.
