El Masters de Shanghai y las Finales WTA de Shenzhen no se celebrarán este 2020
La ATP y la WTA anunciaron que cancelaron sus torneos de la gira asiática que realizan en China, debido al decreto del gobierno de ese país de prohibir eventos deportivos durante este año por culpa de la pandemia del coronavirus.
Por el circuito masculino, fueron cancelados el Masters 1.000 de Shanghai, el ATP 500 de Beijing, y los torneos 250 de Chengdu y Zhuhai.
Andrea Gaudenzi, presidente de la ATP, explicó que la decisión fue porque «nuestro enfoque en esta pandemia siempre ha sido seguir las reglas de los gobiernos locales respecto a organizar eventos».
«Respetamos la decisión del gobierno chino para hacer lo mejor para aquel país en respuesta a esta situación global sin precedentes. Con tristeza debemos anunciar que no se jugarán torneos ATP en China este año», señaló.
