CMP reporta utilidades por USD 938,5 millones en 2021 y alcanza ganancias históricas

Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), informó a la CMF que la utilidad neta consolidada al 31 de diciembre de 2021 fue de USD 938,5 millones, cifra que se compara favorablemente con la del año 2020, de USD 448,3 millones.
Asimismo, la entidad señaló que la ganancia bruta se incrementó en un 82,6%, alcanzando los USD 1.459,2 millones por sobre los USD 799,2 MM del año anterior, en tanto que el EBITDA subió en un 83,1%, llegando a USD 1.601,9 millones en equivalencia a USD 874,9 MM del año 2020.
Según se indicó en la información entregada, al cierre de 2021 Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) logró una ganancia histórica en parte gracias a que los ingresos de explotación del año 2021 representaron un 132,1% de los ingresos obtenidos en el año 2020”.
En ese sentido, el gerente general de CMP, Francisco Carvajal, también destacó que la implementación de su estrategia de crecimiento sostenible, en el marco de un contexto desafiante, les permitió abordar un alza récord de producción.
“CMP está comprometida con el desarrollo de las personas y los territorios donde estamos presentes, así como con el uso eficiente y equilibrado de los recursos naturales. Los positivos resultados del ejercicio 2021 son el reflejo de iniciativas enmarcadas en la implementación de una estrategia de crecimiento sostenible, así como de un modelo de gestión que privilegió la contratación de proveedores locales e incluso fue destacada recientemente por el Ranking de Pagadores como la empresa minera que mejor paga dentro del sector minero”.
En la misma línea, el ejecutivo destacó que su estrategia de seguridad en el marco de la pandemia les permitió mantener la operatividad en todo momento, incluyendo las dificultades que se observaron en la industria naviera, que produjeron interrupciones en la operación de puertos internacionales y una consiguiente demora en los embarques.
Considerando los destinos finales de los productos por unidad física, durante el año 2020 se abastecieron 6 países diferentes, los cuales fueron: un 78,2% a China, un 8,3% al mercado nacional, un 5,3% a Corea del Sur, un 4,1% a Japón, un 2,7% a Barhain y un 1,4% a USA.”, destaca el documento.
Junto con destacar que este año CMP cumple 40 años de operación – durante los cuales la compañía ha desarrollado un modelo de gestión que los ha consagrado como el principal productor de minerales de hierro y pellets en la costa americana del Pacífico- la empresa adelantó que durante este año 2022 continuarán con una estrategia de fortalecimiento que les permitirá reforzar su actual posición y ejecutar su actual estrategia de desarrollo sostenible.
En ese sentido, CMP destacó que durante este año seguirán impulsando el proyecto Romeral Fase V e incorporarán inversiones con tal de mejorar y modernizar la operación del Puerto Guayacán, , puerta de salida del mineral de hierro que se produce en Romeral.
De la misma manera, CMP informó que se encuentra implementando un programa de mejoramiento ambiental por USD 300 millones, el cual incluye la puesta en marcha de un segundo precipitador electrostático en su Planta de Pellets, junto con ejecutar un nuevo proyecto de descarbonización total de la planta que permitirá reemplazar el uso de carbón por gas natural.
Por último, también se destacó que durante el año 2021 obtuvieron la aprobación ambiental del proyecto Depósito de Relaves Filtrados, cuyas obras comenzarán este año y mediante el cual se pondrá en marcha una solución sostenible y de alta tecnología para la disposición de relaves hasta 2030.
