Director OMS: Restringir el aborto no lo reduce sino que lo hace más inseguro
«Las mujeres siempre deberían tener el derecho a elegir en lo que respecta a sus cuerpos y a su salud», sostuvo Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus respecto a la discusión en EEUU.
El director general de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, ante el temor de que el derecho al aborto sea revocado en EEUU, que restringir el acceso a esta práctica no reduce su incidencia sino que «arrastra a mujeres y chicas a procedimientos inseguros».
«Las mujeres siempre deberían tener el derecho a elegir en lo que respecta a sus cuerpos y a su salud», indicó Tedros en su cuenta oficial de Twitter, donde no se refirió directamente a Estados Unidos.
«El acceso a un aborto seguro salva vidas», concluyó el máximo responsable de la OMS, organización que en su cuenta corporativa en la red social también defendió el derecho de las mujeres de todo el mundo a acceder a prácticas abortivas seguras.
Se filtró un borrador de sentencia del Tribunal Supremo estadounidense que, de salir adelante, supondría en la práctica la eliminación de la protección al aborto, vigente en el país desde 1973, algo que ha causado gran revuelo en el país y desató protestas públicas.
