Once muertos y cuatro heridos dejó este sábado una explosión accidental en una mina colombiana de carbón en Cucunubá, una localidad próxima a Bogotá, según el cuerpo de bomberos.
Las víctimas eran obreros que trabajaban en medio de la emergencia sanitaria por el coronavirus.
Aunque la mayoría de colombianos está en cuarentena por orden del gobierno, la actividad minera fue excluida de las medidas de confinamiento.
“Se ha hecho el rescate de once víctimas fatales y tenemos cuatro lesionadas”, dijo el capitán Álvaro Farfán, jefe del cuerpo de bomberos del departamento de Cundinamarca, en cuya jurisdicción está Cucunubá.
En declaraciones al canal Caracol, Farfán dijo que el accidente se produjo en una mina de carbón que operaba legalmente, aunque no dio detalles sobre el tipo de explosión.
El viernes otros seis mineros fallecieron en un hecho similar ocurrido en un yacimiento de carbón en el municipio de San Cayetano, en el noreste de Colombia.
Tras la nueva tragedia, la Agencia Nacional de Minería (estatal) anunció la suspensión “de la actividad de minería subterránea de carbón” en Cucunubá, según publicó en Twitter.
El organismo confirmó el reporte de once muertos y cuatro heridos.
