Director de hospital de ciudad origen del coronavirus muere tras contagiarse de la enfermedad
El director de un hospital de la ciudad china de Wuhan, donde surgió originalmente el coronavirus, murió este martes víctima del COVID-19.
Liu Zhiming, director del Hospital Wuchang , uno de los principales de la ciudad, falleció después de “fracasar todos los esfuerzos por salvarlo”, informó la cadena de televisión estatal CCTV.
La epidemia de COVID-19, que surgió en diciembre pasado en Wuhan, capital de la central provincia de Hubei, ha matado a cerca de 1.900 personas y contagiado a unas 72.000 en China continental, la gran mayoría en esa región.
Según un informe dado por las autoridades chinas el
pasado viernes, seis miembros del personal médico han muerto y 1.716 han sido
contagiados.
La muerte de Liu fue inicialmente
reportada por medios chinos y blogueros poco después de la medianoche del
martes, pero la información fue más tarde eliminada
y reemplazada con reportes de que los médicos todavía estaban tratando de
salvarlo.
