Hoy cuando cumplimos el ducentésimo décimo segundo aniversario patrio, quiero enviar un afectuoso saludo a todos los soldados de la I División de Ejército, hombres y mujeres, quienes han trabajado de forma incansable en las distintas tareas asignadas, no solo en las correspondientes a instrucción y entrenamiento, sino que también las que tienen relación con la pandemia y el estado de excepción constitucional, demostrando con ello el profesionalismo y polivalencia de esta institución bicentenaria, que hoy celebra el legado de sus antepasados y los hace carne en los nuevos desafíos del presente, exigiéndonos avanzar a hacia un Ejército moderno y valorado por todos los chilenos.

Hoy somos un Ejército moderno, preparado y entrenado para servir a Chile y su gente, porque somos de todos los chilenos, sin distinción alguna, con desafíos cada vez mayores, pero con capacidades físicas, materiales y tecnológicas que nos permiten estar disponibles y entrenados para acudir cuando se requiera, en apoyo a la ciudadanía con el mismo compromiso de antaño.

Por ello, junto de conmemorar el aniversario de Chile, celebramos las Glorias del Ejército de Chile – un ejército vencedor y jamás vencido – cuyo legado corre por nuestras venas y que con nuestras tradiciones, mantenemos vivo los principios básicos del soldados chileno, la disciplina, valor, prudencia, justicia, fortaleza y la templanza, que guían nuestro actuar en cada una de nuestras acciones.

Nuestros soldados lucharon por la independencia de Chile, la Guerra del Pacífico y todas sus batallas, solo por nombrar algunos hechos relevantes para el desarrollo de nuestra nación. También hemos estado en todas las catástrofes que han azotado al país y en particular a la región, trabajando sin descanso, con las autoridades y la sociedad civil.

Soldados “Vencedores del Desierto”, hoy estamos de fiesta y lo celebramos con nuestros respectivos desfiles patrios, donde frente a las autoridades y la ciudadanía, reafirmamos nuestro compromiso de servicio a la patria, con la responsabilidad de todos de hacer grande a nuestro Ejército de Chile.
