Sebastián Sichel renunció a la presidencia de BancoEstado
A través de un punto de prensa, Sebastián Sichel anunció hoy su decisión de renunciar al cargo de presidente de BancoEstado, en el que se desempeñaba desde el 5 de junio.
Al respecto, agradeció el compromiso de todos los trabajadores, destacando que “cada minuto y cada hora que he estado de presidente de BancoEstado, me he dedicado 24 horas a ayudar a la gestión del banco, a apoyar la gestión de los trabajadores y, particularmente, a preocuparme de aquellos que están al otro lado del mesón y que día a día necesitan del banco en lugares que nunca nos imaginaron”.
Sobre su trabajo en BancoEstado agregó: “Tuve la experiencia de estar en Teno, Parral, Combarbalá, ayudando a los funcionarios del banco y dándonos cuenta que este banco se necesita más que nunca y que el orgullo de presidirlo es preocuparse de que los chilenos terminen con esa experiencia triste de, muchas veces, hacer filas”.
Mientras estuvo en BancoEstado, Sichel impulsó varias iniciativas enfocadas en enfrentar los efectos económicos y sociales de la pandemia, además de fortalecer el rol social del banco a través del apoyo a la reactivación económica del país.
Entre los principales hitos de su gestión destaca la aceleración de la entrega de créditos Covid-19 Fogape, que superan el 50% del total de la industria con más de 150 mil entregados; 3 millones de bonos Fonasa vendidos a través de CajaVecina; implementación del primer pago del 10% de los fondos previsionales con 10 millones de pagos realizados; 121 mil pagos del bono Covid Navidad; más de 20 millones de pagos de beneficios sociales adicionales en comparación a 2019; y se alcanzaron los 31 mil puntos de atención de CajaVecina.
Adicionalmente, impulsó otras iniciativas como el lanzamiento de BancoEstado Express, con 25 servicios adicionales, y la apertura de 6 nuevas oficinas de esta filial; la reformulación del Premio Emprendedor enfocado en el emprendimiento femenino con más de 23 mil postulaciones al nuevo Premio CreceMujer; y el reforzamiento de las medidas de financiamiento a Mipymes con iniciativas como el programa Mil Mentorías y la apertura de espacios Creceaquí.
Sichel es abogado de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y magíster en Derecho Público, con mención en Derecho Constitucional, de la misma casa de estudios.
Antes de asumir la presidencia de BancoEstado se desempeñaba como ministro de Desarrollo Social, cargo que asumió en junio de 2019. Anteriormente, entre mayo de 2018 y junio de 2019, fue vicepresidente ejecutivo de Corfo.
