Prisión preventiva para conductor ebrio protagonista de grave accidente en Chañaral

La Fiscalía de Atacama formalizó ayer viernes la investigación en contra del conductor de una camioneta que la noche del pasado lunes protagonizó un grave accidente en las cercanías de Chañaral. Siniestro que dejó como consecuencia dos personas heridas de gravedad, una de ellas con riesgo vital.

LOS HECHOS:

La investigación de esta causa está a cargo del fiscal jefe de esta comuna, Marco Arenas Zeballos, quien argumentó que de acuerdo a los peritajes desarrollados se pudo establecer que alrededor de las 21:30 horas el imputado, de profesión prevencionista de riesgos, conducía el vehículo en manifiesto estado de ebriedad y a exceso de velocidad en dirección al sur por el sector de la cuesta Portezuelo Blanco, ocasión a que debido a su estado cruzó el eje central de la calzada impactando a un vehículo que circulaba en dirección contraria y en el que viajaba en grupo familiar y que terminó volcado a un costado de la carretera.

“Como consecuencia de este hecho los cinco ocupantes del auto afectado resultaron lesionados, siendo el conductor y su hija de 15 años los más graves debiendo ser trasladados hasta el Hospital Regional de Copiapó. Recinto asistencial donde adolescente se mantiene con riesgo vital”, indicó Arenas.

De acuerdo a los argumentos del fiscal, tras el accidente, el imputado bajó de la camioneta y se colocó un polerón para luego recoger desde el interior de su vehículo dos botellas de cervezas y se dio a la fuga del lugar, internándose en el desierto alrededor de 180 metros del lugar. Manteniéndose escondido en el lugar hasta alrededor de la medianoche, siendo ubicado y detenido por personal de Carabineros.

FORMALIZACIÓN:

Por estos hechos, la Fiscalía formalizó al imputado por su responsabilidad en tres delitos. El primero de ellos la conducción en estado de ebriedad con resultado de lesiones graves gravísimas, dos lesiones graves y lesiones leves. Además, el ilícito de incumplimiento de la obligación de detenerse, prestar ayuda posible y dar cuenta a la autoridad; y tercero, negativa injustificada a someterse a pruebas científicas destinadas a establecer la presencia de alcohol en el cuerpo.

De esta manera y debido a la gravedad de sus consecuencias, el fiscal Marco Arenas solicitó en contra del conductor la medida cautelar de prisión preventiva por considerarlo un peligro para la seguridad de la sociedad. Petición que fue acogida por la Jueza de turno, quien decretó su ingreso al centro penitenciario de Copiapó.
