Empresa Nueva Atacama destacó obras realizadas y proyectos para fortalecer el suministro

La empresa Nueva Atacama presentó a la comunidad su primera Cuenta Pública; un resumen -en formato de video- que aborda lo que fue su gestión durante 2019 y analiza el panorama futuro.
 
A un año de la incorporación de la compañía al Grupo Aguas Nuevas, se resaltaron significativos avances para asegurar la continuidad y calidad del servicio; donde se invirtieron más de 20.000 millones para renovar más de 14 kilómetros de redes de agua potable y de aguas servidas, utilizando tecnología de punta para mitigar los impactos por rompimiento de calles, lo que se traduce en una reducción del 70% los cortes de agua. Además, se mejoraron las instalaciones y la eficiencia de cada uno de los procesos.
 
Otro pilar fundamental en el que se trabajó fue la calidad del agua, ámbito en el que se invirtieron más de $8.400 millones, junto con el desarrollo de un plan para dar un tratamiento más eficiente y que involucró la construcción de una nueva planta de potabilización en Tierra Amarilla, abastecida de fuentes superficiales y con un estándar único en la región, además de la ampliación de planta de purificación por osmosis inversa Placilla Sierra Alta en Copiapó y la adaptación de la instalación del mismo tipo ubicada en Cancha Rayada para purificar el agua que actualmente abastece a Chañaral.

DESAFÍOS:
 
Dentro de los desafíos, está hacer frente al impacto del cambio climático -lo que requiere un manejo sostenible y responsable del agua-, seguir realizando inversiones para limitar las pérdidas en la red por roturas o robos. Todo esto, sumado a un estudio avanzado de la red, analizando su comportamiento y modelando su operación para dar soluciones robustas permanentemente.
 
En tal sentido, el gerente regional de Nueva Atacama, Carlos Barboza, anunció que se está trabajando en las adaptaciones de los sistemas, para que una vez que entre en operación la desaladora construida por el Estado, esta nueva tecnología fortalezca la continuidad del suministro.
             
“En estos años, el 2019 y lo que va de 2020, en medio de la pandemia y una gravísima sequía, hemos podido ofrecer continuidad y calidad de servicio, porque hemos hecho los proyectos que se requieren. Y seguiremos en ese camino; nuestro compromiso es entregar un servicio de excelencia a las familias que atendemos, así como contribuir al medioambiente y al desarrollo de las ciudades que atendemos”.
 
Actualmente, Nueva Atacama atiende a más de 95 mil familias de las región de Atacama, gracias al trabajo 265 colaboradores y más de 300 contratistas. Su labor está presente en todo el ciclo del agua, y forma parte del Grupo Aguas Nuevas -perteneciente a nipona Marubeni Corporation-.
