EEUU rechaza retirada de Irak
Estados Unidos reiteró que no contempla la «retirada» de sus tropas de Irak a la vez que aseguró que son «una fuerza para el bien» en Medio Oriente, en respuesta a las críticas de ese país por el vuelo de drones y la entrada de tropas sin permiso en el país.
«Estados Unidos es una fuerza para el bien en Medio Oriente», remarcó el secretario de Estado, Mike Pompeo, en un comunicado.
«En este momento, cualquier delegación enviada a Irak estaría dedicada a discutir la mejor manera de comprometerse de nuevo con nuestra estratégica alianza, no para discutir la retirada de tropas, sino nuestra correcta y apropiada posición en Medio Oriente», agregó Pompeo.
El jefe de la diplomacia de EE.UU. indicó, asimismo, que se reunirá en Washington con una delegación de la OTAN para discutir el «creciente papel» de la alianza atlántica en Irak.
