Dólar sube más de $7 y se cotiza en máximos de casi dos meses impulsado por nueva caída del cobre

Este lunes, el dólar abrió la semana al alza, impulsado por la fuerte caída que ha presentado el cobre tras el brote de coronavirus en China, el cual no ha podido ser controlado y ya se ha propagado por más de 10 países. Así, a las 09:35 horas, el billete verde se transa con un alza de $7,75, ubicándose en $785,65 vendedor y $785,35 comprador. Se trata de su mayor nivel desde inicios de diciembre.                                                                             
Nicolás Rojas, analista de Mercados de XTB Latam, comentó que «el tipo de cambio cotiza al alza desacoplado a un dólar índex, que se encuentra plano. Esto a pesar de que durante el fin de semana tres proyectiles cayeron en la embajada de Estados Unidos en Bagdad». Por su parte, «el cobre se encuentra bajando ya que siguen aumentando los casos de muertos e infectados por el coronavirus, lo que ha provocado creciente miedo a que se pueda transformar en un temor real en los mercados y pueda afectar al crecimiento en China».                                                                                                                               Según consignó Reuters durante la mañana, «los precios del cobre en Londres caían el lunes hasta mínimos de casi ocho semanas por un aumento de la preocupación sobre el impacto económico potencial que podría tener el coronavirus detectado en China, después de que la cifra de muertes se elevó a 81». «A las 07:58 GMT, el cobre referencial a tres meses en la Bolsa de Metales de Londres (LME) , considerado en general como una medida de salud económica, se encaminaba a su novena sesión consecutiva de declives y tocaba su cota más reducida desde el 4 de diciembre, a 5,812 dólares la tonelada».                       

En el aspecto macroeconómico, según Rojas, «hoy solo tenemos ventas de viviendas nuevas del mes de diciembre en Estados Unidos, dato clave sobre la salud del mercado de la vivienda norteamericana. Si el dato sale sobre lo esperado, podríamos ver al dólar fortalecerse», adelantó el experto. Técnicamente «esperamos alzas en el tipo de cambio hacia los $786», proyectó Rojas.
