Cuatro presos mueren en incendio de la cárcel iraní de Evin
«Cuatro presos murieron a causa de la inhalación del humo provocado por el incendio, y 61 resultaron heridos», indicó este domingo el portal en línea de la agencia estatal Mizan, en referencia a los enfrentamientos ocurridos en la cárcel de Evin, en Teherán, durante las protestas antigubernamentales.
El comunicado añade que cuatro de los heridos estaban graves. En total, «solo diez heridos fueron hospitalizados».
Los detenidos fallecidos «estaban encarcelados en Evin tras haber sido condenados por robo», precisó la web. Por su parte, el medio Fars, cercano a la Guardia Revolucionaria, indicó que algunos presos «habían preparado armas blancas» y al tratar de escapar entraron en un «campo de minas» situado al norte de la prisión, causa de las explosiones que se escucharon.
El incidente se produjo en plena oleada de protestas en Irán, tras la muerte el 16de septiembre de Mahsa Amini, una joven de 22 años detenida por la policía de la moral por incumplir supuestamente el código de vestimenta de la República Islámica, que obliga a las mujeres a cubrirse el pelo con un velo en el espacio público.
Las autoridades, que aseguraron haber controlado el fuego, hablaron el sábado por la noche de «enfrentamientos» en la cárcel, y acusaron a unos «alborotadores» de haber incendiado un almacén de ropa, según la agencia oficial Irna. El incidente en la prisión «no tiene nada que ver» con las manifestaciones en numerosos puntos del país por la muerte de Mahsa Amini, sostiene la agencia oficial.
En la prisión de Evin, donde han sido admitidos abusos, se encuentran numerosas personas detenidas durante las protestas, así como extranjeros o binacionales como la investigadora franco-iraní Fariba Adelkhah y el estadounidense Siamak Namazi. El cineasta iraní Jafar Panahi, ganador de varios premios internacionales, y el político reformista Mostafa Tajzadeh estarían también en esta cárcel.
