El Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas (INE) publicó este 30 de junio el Boletín Sectores Económicos de Producción Industrial correspondiente a mayo de 2022, medición que destacó el incremento interanual de 1,8% del Índice de Producción Industrial (IPI),
debido la incidencia positiva de dos de los tres sectores que lo componen.
Pese al indicador positivo, el Índice de Producción Minera (IPMin) descendió 0,3% internualmente, incidiendo -0,126 puntos porcentuales (pp) en la variación del IPI, debido a una menor actividad registrada en la minería metálica, producto de la baja en la extracción y procesamiento del cobre, por un menor tratamiento y una baja ley de mineral en importantes empresas del rubro.
Por el contrario, minería no metálica incrementó 46,6 % en comparación con igual mes del año anterior, incidiendo 1,972 pp. en la variación del índice, a causa de una mayor producción de carbonato de litio.
Por su parte, el Índice de Producción de Electricidad, Gas y Agua (IPEGA) creció 2,9% en relación con mayo de 2021 e incidió 0,330 pp. en la variación del IPI, debido a que las tres actividades que lo componen aumentaron, en especial la electricidad.
Finalmente, el Índice de Producción Manufacturera (IPMan) fue el que más influyó en el resultado, al anotar un aumento de 3,5% respecto a igual mes del año anterior, aportando 1,580 puntos porcentuales (pp.) al IPI. Esto, principalmente a raíz del alza en la elaboración de productos alimenticios, en particular de pan.
