Gold Fields adquiere Yamana Golds por US$ 6,7 millones

Este 30 de mayo se anunció que la compañía sudafricana Gold Fields, adquirirá todas las acciones ordinarias en circulación de la canadiense Yamana Gold.

El acuerdo de compra de la minera con sede en Canadá, Chile y Brasil se llevó a cabo por un total de US$ 6,7 millones y se espera su cierre definitivo durante el segundo semestre de este año.
De acuerdo con el comunicado emitido por Gold Fields, la adquisición fortalece la capacidad de la compañía para cumplir con los tres pilares estratégicos que se han trazado: maximizar el potencial de los activos, avanzar en el compromiso ESG, y aumentar el valor y la calidad de su cartera de activos.
Al respecto, el director ejecutivo de Gold Fields, Chris Griffith, sostuvo que el resultado de esta operación es una combinación de una capacidad y un valor potencial mucho mayor que la suma de sus partes. Asimismo, indicó que la empresa «contará con una cartera líder en la industria de activos emblemáticos de alta calidad y larga duración que abarcan algunas de las jurisdicciones mineras de oro más establecidas del mundo».
Por su parte, el presidente ejecutivo de Yamana Gold, Peter Marrone, apuntó en un comunicado que «es una excelente oportunidad». Además, vieron un «mérito significativo» en continuar las conversaciones con Gold Fields debido a la calidad de su empresa de forma independiente y debido a la calidad que crearía una combinación.
