Con alta convocatoria finalizó la iniciativa: «Fertisavia una Herramienta para Aumentar la Productividad del Agua»
Desarrollar herramientas innovadoras para el control de riego y optimización del uso de fertilizantes en la Región de Atacama, es la clave para que la producción de uva de mesa siga siendo una industria competitiva. Así lo asegura el Grupo de Estudios del Agua (GEA) de la Universidad de Chile y que expuso ante alrededor de 40 productores, profesionales, técnicos y autoridades de la región, que se reunieron en forma presencial en el Seminario Final de la Iniciativa «FERTISAVIA UNA HERRAMIENTA PARA AUMENTAR LA PRODUCTIVIDAD DEL AGUA» desarrollado el pasado jueves 19 de mayo en el Casino Antay.
El seminario abordó los principales resultados de las investigaciones aplicadas desarrolladas en el marco de la iniciativa y que fueron presentadas por los profesionales Jorge Miranda, Rodrigo Gálvez y Julio Haberland, quienes destacaron que existe una buena capacidad técnica en el Valle de Copiapó que junto a la larga tradición productiva de la región en uva de mesa, son “un factor importante para introducir los cambios en el manejo productivo que apunte a mejorar el uso eficiente del agua y fertilizantes, con la consecuencia en el aumento de la productividad y rentabilidad del cultivo”, señaló el Director del GEA.
Al respecto, el Secretario Regional Ministerial de Agricultura, Ricardo Zamora Hidalgo, destacó que
“estos proyectos financiados desde el Gobierno Regional de Atacama y ejecutados por profesionales de la Universidad de Chile, son la base para el trabajo que la región ha proyectado para los próximos decenios, tanto el recurso hídrico y sus múltiples dimensiones, como las mejoras productivas de la actividad agrícola de Atacama, serán los pilares para que nuestra región transite hacia una agricultura enfocada en la adaptabilidad y sustentabilidad”.
En tanto, el presidente de la Asociación de productores y exportadores agrícolas del Valle de Copiapó-APECO, Mario Holvoet, valoró que “este tipo de iniciativas entrega un relevante insumo en la toma de decisiones de los productores de uva de exportación, contribuyendo a generar competitividad con los productos que nacen de la riqueza de nuestra tierra atacameña. Para nuestra asociación es fundamental contar con el desarrollo de este tipo de iniciativas ejecutadas por profesionales con amplias capacidades y conocimiento local que aporten al sector”. Además agregó “Quiero aprovechar la oportunidad para destacar y relevar el positivo impacto que ha tenido en los productores de uva de mesa de Atacama , las distintas investigaciones que han realizado profesionales calificados de la Facultad de Ciencias Agronómicas de la Universidad de Chile , los que con sus 12 años de presencia en la región , y con el apoyo financiero del Gobierno Regional de Atacama, han logrado realizar investigaciones aplicadas con un fuerte impacto sobre el uso cada vez más eficiente del recurso hídrico”.
ALCANCES
El uso de umbrales de riego que permitan eficientizar el uso del agua, contribuye a optimizar el uso de los fertilizantes, al iniciar el trabajo no existía conocimiento práctico de la cantidad optima anual y estacional de la aplicación de fertilización nitrogenada en los huertos comerciales asociado a nuevas variedades de uva de mesa, lo que resulta importante de cuantificar por el efecto sobre lo económico y productivo. Con la investigación realizada queda de manifiesto que existe aporte de nitrógeno provenientes de agua de riego que actualmente no está considerado en los programas de fertilización, a través de esta investigación se dejó en evidencia que estos aportes deben ser considerados en cada etapa fenológica requerida, lo que resultará en muchos casos en una mejora productiva y disminución de costos asociados en la compra de estos fertilizantes.
Así también se logró evidenciar la existencia de traspiración nocturna, cuantificándola a nivel experimental, lo cual debe ser considerado en el balance hídrico y evaluado en futuras investigaciones que aborden el efecto de este fenómeno en la fisiología del cultivo de uva mesa cultivadas en la región. Es relevante continuar con los esfuerzos que permitan dar profundidad y continuidad a la investigación realizada, que apunte a mejorar la competitividad de los productores de uva de mesa de la región de Atacama.
