EL RECONOCIMIENTO DE LA MUJER EN CARABINEROS

Igualdad de género que le ha valido la incorporación a la par de las funciones que desarrolla el personal masculino.

Con mucho orgullo podemos decir que Carabineros de Chile ha sido pionera en integrar a la mujer al ámbito de las labores policiales, como parte de una amplia gama de especialidades.
 
Por esto hoy su trabajo no sólo se encuentra enfocado hacia los menores y la familia, como fue al inicio de los años 60’ sino también se concentra hacia los servicios generales de Orden y Seguridad, a la par del personal masculino, desempeñando funciones en la unidad de drogas, Fuerzas Especiales, Inteligencia, Criminalística, Sección Aérea, guía canino, Sección Investigadora de Accidentes de Tránsito, fronteras, motoristas, entre muchas otras.

También podemos ver mujeres en los cargos de jefes de retenes, comisarías, prefecturas e incluso en un hecho sin precedentes en Latinoamérica, en 1998 fue investida como General (EF) Mireya Pérez Videla, quedando a cargo de la Dirección de Protección Policial de la Familia.

Es así como a lo largo de los años las femeninas se han ganado su espacio en Carabineros de Chile y hoy podemos ver que se han sumado otras Oficiales Generales, entre ellas la General Pamela Olivares Peña, siendo la primera mujer del escalafón de Orden y Seguridad -en la historia de Carabineros de Chile- en alcanzar dicho grado integrando el Alto Mando Institucional. De hecho este año son cinco las mujeres que integran el Alto Mando de Carabineros de Chile, dos de ellas como Jefas de Zona en regiones, una como Jefa de Tránsito, Carreteras y Seguridad Vial, otra como Jefa de Zona en Fronteras y Servicios Especiales y una quinta como Directora de Derechos Humanos y Protección de la Familia.
 
En Atacama la situación tampoco es distinta, las mujeres también cumplen diferentes funciones policiales teniendo por primera vez una jefa de Retén y así como ellas hay otras tantas mujeres carabinero y personal femenino civil cumpliendo las más diversas funciones.
 
Por esto y porque su trabajo nos importa, a través de este espacio envío mi reconocimiento y saludo por la gran labor que desempeña la “mujer carabinero”, quienes sin temor a los desafíos, son un aporte al resguardo de la seguridad, el orden público y al bienestar de cada uno de los habitantes de nuestro región y país. Tampoco quiero dejar pasar esta ocasión para enviar mi reconocimiento y saludo a todas y cada una de las mujeres que desde sus distintas actividades aportan al engrandecimiento de Atacama.
