El Presidente venezolano, Nicolás Maduro, fijó el salario mínimo en unos 28 dólares -un aumento de 1.700%- que alcanza para comprar casi cinco kilos de carne.
El salario quedó en 126 bolívares (US$ 28). El mínimo vigente desde mayo pasado era de 7 bolívares (US$ 1,62 al cambio actual). «Vamos a un plan de recuperación del salario mínimo nacional de todas las tablas salariales y de todos los contratos colectivos», anunció Maduro en un acto oficial con un grupo de trabajadores afines a su gobierno.
El Mandatario no precisó cuándo entrará en vigencia el aumento, solo que se hará de manera «sostenible, controlando la inflación» y el «tipo de cambio». Venezuela cerró hace un mes un ciclo hiperinflacionario de cuatro años dentro de la peor crisis económica de su historia reciente, que contó ocho años en recesión.
Maduro repitió que el salario se vio golpeado por una «guerra económica» de la que desde hace años responsabiliza a Estados Unidos y la oposición, pero aseguró que su administración tiene «pulmón» para asumir esta alza a través de nuevos impuestos que se están recaudando.
Un kilo de carne vale unos seis dólares, por lo que el nuevo salario mínimo permite comprar unos 4,6 kilos. Equivale a unos 4 kilos de pollo o 12 docenas de huevos.
