Museo Regional lanza el libro “Copiapó 1918, El registro de una Catástrofe”
El Museo Regional de Atacama, continuando en su importante labor cultural lanza el libro titulado “Copiapó 1918, El registro de una catástrofe, La fotografía de Olivares Valdivia como fuente histórica del terremoto de 1918” .
Consiste en un Libro de Historia y fotografía de Copiapó en el primer cuarto del siglo pasado, de los investigadores Guillermo Cortés Lutz, Profesor, Doctor en Historia, Director del Museo Regional de Atacama. Y del Profesor Rodrigo Zalaquett Fuente – Alba, Magister en Estudios Latinoamericanos, profesional del SNPC de Atacama. La digitalización fotográfica, estuvo a cargo de la Licenciada en Historia, Francisca Olivares Di Paolo. La curatoria y selección fotográfica estuvo a cargo de los autores.
El libro es editado por Museo Regional de Atacama y la Empresa Engie Chile, y el objetivo es poner en valor la historia de importantes eventos naturales con resultados catastróficos, como fue el terremoto del 4 de diciembre de 1918 en Copiapó. Este evento natural m fue a las 07:44 de esa fatídica mañana.
Cortés Lutz al respecto de este nuevo aporte cultural indicó que “para darle fuerza argumentativa se presentan dos estudios monográficos sobre la historia de Copiapó y del evento mismo, y se relata como la fotografía del ovallino José Olivares Valdivia, resulta un testimonio clave para que en Santiago, crean que el terremoto tuvo un efecto devastador en la ciudad. Y solo con esta prueba irrefutable, «la fotografía», el gobierno de Juan Luis Sanfuentes, decide recién enviar ayuda a Copiapó”.
El Libro cuenta con 85 fotos de la colección del Museo, donde se puede ver la devastación de la ciudad después del terremoto.
El libro además estará en la página del Museo Regional de Atacama, y se podrá solicitar por correo electrónico a; silvia.tapia@museoschile.gob.cl a contar del 02 de agosto.
