Confirmado: Se cayó fecha chilena del Mundial de Rally
El intendente de la Región del Biobío,Sergio Giacaman, y el productor de la fecha chilena del Mundial de Rally, Felipe Horta, confirmaron que el evento programado para abril de 2020 fue cancelado.
De acuerdo a lo explicado, la Federación Internacional de Automovilismo aceptó la decisión a la espera de poder retomar el evento en 2021 luego del éxito que se generó en 2019.
Los argumentos entregados por las autoridades fueron el ambiente que se vive en el país a raíz del estallido social y la cercanía en el calendario que hay con el plebiscito de entrada a la nueva Constitución.
«Las buenas decisiones son aquellas que se toman a tiempo. Hoy tenemos una situación especial en el país. El clima y la necesidad de ese plebiscito no conjugan con la realización del rally en nuestro país, que también necesita de su propio ambiente», explicó Horta.
«Todo indicaba que de realizarse esta segunda fecha en Chile implicaba el doble de público, e íbamos a requerir de más carabineros, de más bomberos, y de todos los servicios que necesitaba el evento. Y eso nos ha hecho reflexionar para decir ‘esperamos un año’ para retomar el 2021 el Mundial. La FIA y la WRC han entendido, y nos está permitiendo cancelar la fecha de 2020 y realizar la de 2021″, añadió.
A su vez, el intendente explicó que «nos hizo muy bien para la imagen país y para la imagen región, pero en estos momentos tenemos otras prioridades. Hay que despejar abril para realizar el plebiscito y en Biobío vamos a trabajar con mucha fuerza para el 2021».
El evento estaba programado entre el 16 y el 19 de abril.
