Proyecto minero Salares Norte se prepara para iniciar faenas en los próximos meses
El ambicioso proyecto de Salares Norte, emplazado en la cordillera de la comuna de Diego de Almagro a más de 4200 msnm, es uno de los grandes proyectos de oro y plata que dan un empuje a la provincia de Chañaral, por los próximos 7 a 12 años.
El lugar fue visitado por autoridades, encabezadas por el Gobernador de la Provincia de Chañaral, Ignacio Úrcullú, con el propósito de conocer in situ los avances que tienen las faenas, operadas por la empresa Sudafricana GoldFields.
Al respecto, el Gobernador Urcullú señaló su satisfacción tras la visita, manifestando que: «nuestra provincia tiene una de las mayores inversiones a nivel nacional desde el sector privado, que están enmarcadas dentro de las generaciones de energía renovables no convencionales, como también la minería, y es por eso que como autoridades regionales del gobierno del Presidente Sebastián Piñera, hemos venido a conocer el proyecto «Salares Norte» de la empresa GoldFields.
Acotó la autoridad que “estamos muy contentos porque hemos podido reconocer el alto estándar que tiene esta empresa para desarrollar este proyecto y con esto generará una cantidad importante de empleos para la región y así poder reactivar nuestra economía, el peak de empleos se verá reflejado a partir de mayo de 2021 donde se llegará a 3400 personas trabajando directa o indirectamente en esta faena minera»
El mencionado proyecto además contempla una tasa de procesamiento de 2 Mtpa y un producto final de metal doré, incluyendo un depósito de relaves filtrados.
Finalmente señalar que Salares Norte contiene 4,4 millones de onzas de oro equivalente, 25 millones de toneladas de oro de alto grado a 4,6 g por tonelada, 53 g por tonelada de plata.
