Una histórica actuación que atesorará por siempre es la que completó la deportista chilena Macarena Pérez en el Mundial de ciclismo BMX Freestyle que se desarrolla en China.
La rider nacional se quedó con la medalla de plata en el torneo, logrando así un hito inédito para el BMX nacional. Además, logró clasificar a los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio 2020. Con apenas 22 años, Pérez entró en la historia de esta disciplina a nivel nacional y se suma a los otros chilenos clasificados a la justa olímpica.
Con Pérez, ya son 11 los criollos que tienen su boleto asegurado para la cita: Martín Vidaurre y Denisse Ahumada (Ciclismo), Simona Castro (Gimnasia), Francisca Crovetto (tiro skeet), Ignacio Montesinos (equitación), Kristel Köbrich (natación), Esteban Bustos (pentatlón moderno), María José Mailliard y Karen Rojo (canotaje) y Tomás Barrios (tenis, pero tiene que estar top 300 hasta junio de 2020).
