Casi 10 millones de niños en países en vías de desarrollo pueden quedarse sin poder ir al colegio este año de forma permanente debido a los recortes y la pobreza derivados de la pandemia de coronavirus, avisa un informe difundido este lunes por «Save the Children».
La organización de protección de la infancia, con sede en Londres, calcula que los estragos por el covid-19 dejarán un agujero de un mínimo de 77.000 millones de dólares en los próximos 18 meses en la inversión en educación en las zonas más pobres del planeta.
«Save the children» pide a los Gobiernos que aumenten el gasto en educación tan pronto como reabran las escuelas después de los meses de confinamiento y a las autoridades competentes que conviertan la deuda de los Estados afectados en inversiones para la infancia.
