Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:GOLD) (TSX:ABX) concretó la entrega de 3 ventiladores mecánicos al Hospital Provincial del Huasco en Vallenar para ayudar al tratamiento de personas afectadas por COVID-19, en el marco de la iniciativa de la Confederación de Producción y Comercio (CPC) que creó un fondo sanitario privado de emergencia para Chile. El apoyo brindado a la comunidad hasta el momento también incluyó la entrega de mascarillas N95 al personal médico del Hospital Provincial del Huasco y los Centros de Salud Familiar (Cesfam) de Vallenar. En Alto del Carmen se realizó la entrega de este material a la Unión Comunal de Adultos Mayores y a los responsables de la barrera sanitaria que regula el acceso a esa comuna.

Desde el comienzo de la emergencia sanitaria, Barrick introdujo amplias medidas preventivas para sus trabajadores y una estrecha colaboración con las autoridades y comunidades. En el campamento de Pascua se mantiene una dotación reducida, en promedio de unas 35 personas, que es esencial para realizar las tareas de cuidado medioambiental.

El protocolo de prevención incluye declaraciones juradas de salud, control de temperatura, uso de test rápidos, trazabilidad y uso de habitaciones individuales. El transporte se hace usando mascarillas, con distanciamiento social al usar un 50% de la capacidad de los buses, con previa sanitización de las unidades.
