Cambio climático tiñe de verde la nieve de la Antártida
La proliferación de algas está dando a partes del continente helado un tinte cada vez más verde en la Antártida. El aumento de las temperaturas provocado por el cambio climático está ayudando a la formación y la propagación de la “nieve verde”.
Ésta se está volviendo tan abundante en algunos lugares que incluso es visible desde el espacio, según una nueva investigación publicada el miércoles.
Si bien la presencia de algas en la Antártida fue advertida hace mucho tiempo por diversas expediciones, como la realizada por el británico Ernest Shackleton, se desconocía su extensión total.
