Casi 32.000 profesionales sanitarios están contagiados con covid-19 en Brasil
Casi 32.000 profesionales sanitarios han contraído el nuevo coronavirus en Brasil desde el inicio de la pandemia y cuando el país aún no ha llegado al peack de la enfermedad, según divulgó este jueves el Ministerio de Salud.
Las autoridades sanitarias brasileñas informaron que 199.768 trabajadores del sistema de salud pública presentaron síntomas de covid-19, de los que 31.790 tuvieron confirmado el diagnóstico para la enfermedad, mientras que otros 53.677 fueron descartados. Unos 114.300 trabajadores aún son casos sospechosos y están aún bajo investigación.
El secretario sustituto de Vigilancia en Salud, Eduardo Macário, afirmó que, independientemente de si se trata o no de un contagio confirmado, todos los profesionales sanitarios que presenten algún síntoma de covid-19 deben ser dados de baja para «prevenir la transmisión en el ambiente hospitalario».
Aunque el número de profesionales sanitarios con covid-19 puede parecer bajo comparado con el total, que se estima en alrededor de 3,5 millones, la cifra es preocupante, pues el peak de la pandemia solo se espera que llegue en las próximas semanas.
