Dos canes detectores de drogas llegan a reforzar labor preventiva del O.S.7 Atacama

Con una exposición del trabajo de búsqueda y detección de drogas que tienen como misión realizar, en el marco de su especialidad, fueron presentados los dos nuevos ejemplares caninos de la Sección O.S.7 Atacama.                                                                                                                                             Fury y Frodo son los dos nuevos canes de raza Golden Retriever, que llegaron a esta esta unidad especializada a reforzar la labor que realiza Darwin, desde el año 2018 en el O.S.7 Atacama.                                         

A partir de hoy son tres los ejemplares caninos encargados de reforzar la primera y segunda línea de control en la lucha contra el Narcotráfico, especialmente de sustancias Ilícitas contempladas en la Ley N° 20.000.       

Los canes antidrogas ambos de dos años de vida, están a cargo de los Cabos 2° José Mansilla Quezada y Mónica Bustos San Martin, quienes provienen de la Escuela de Adiestramiento canino, Región Metropolitana.     

Desde hoy, estos canes se suman al exitoso trabajado de Darwin, el conocido ejemplar del O.S.7 Atacama que el año 2019 sacó de circulación más de 122  kilos de drogas y en lo que va del 2020 ha decomisado más de 161 kilos de sustancias ilícitas.      

Así lo informo desde el Departamento OS-7 Atacama, el Capitán Eugenio Olea García, detallando los logros realizados por el can Darwin y lo que significa la llegada de otros dos canes a la región.                               

“Los resultados que se dan en el marco de ciertos operativos desplegados por esta unidad especializada, en torno a los servicios Plan Frontera Segura, con apoyo de tecnología, estos perros detectores de drogas llegan donde el olfato y la vista humana no tienen alcance. Es un complemento a la labor y en esa línea son adiestrados, en base al acondicionamiento mediante el juego y la recompensa, no tienen contacto con la droga, sino que trabajan en base a “sustitutos”, es decir el olor a la droga, que es lo que finalmente buscan”, destacó el capitán Olea.                                                
Cuando el can detecta el olor a alguna sustancia ilícita, hace una marcación positiva a través de algunos movimientos que su guía interpreta, premiándolo con una pelota u otro juguete ya que a él le encanta jugar y esa es su mejor recompensa.                                                                                                                   
Para la sección del OS-7 Atacama los ejemplares caninos son un importante compañero, que al igual que ellos, cumplen turnos como cualquier funcionario policial y disfrutan de sus merecidos descansos siempre junto a su guía, quienes también son Carabineros y tiene los entrenamientos de la especialidad.
