Sonami: Ocupación minera crece 11,9% en doce meses
La Sociedad Nacional de Minería (Sonami) dio a conocer que laocupación en el sector minero creció 11,9% en los últimos doce meses, pues en el trimestre octubre-diciembre de 2018 alcanzaba a 206.200 personas, en tanto que en la última medición correspondiente al trimestre octubre-diciembre de 2019 llega a 230.700 trabajadores, esto es un aumento de 24.500 nuevos puestos de trabajo.
“Cabe destacar que el nivel de empleo alcanzado por la minería es el más alto en los últimos cuatro años, pues solo fue superado por el registro del trimestre móvil septiembre-noviembre de 2015 que llegó a 237.000 empleos”, destacó Álvaro Merino, gerente de Estudios de la gremial.
El ejecutivo precisó que “durante once meses consecutivos la minería, principal actividad económica del país, ha incrementado la ocupación respecto de lo que ocurría hace un año, ello por cierto, en la actual coyuntura, es muy positivo para el país y especialmente para las regiones del norte”.
Cabe indicar que mientras el empleo en el país crece 1% en el último año,en la minería aumenta 11,9% en tanto que en otros rubros representativos de la economía nacional, como la industria manufacturera, cae 2,6%, el sector agrícola aumenta 1%, transporte crece 2%, construcción 3% y en el comercio se eleva 4%. “En el último año se crearon 81.700 empleos a nivel nacional, de los cuales el 30% fueron generados por el sector minero, es decir, en las difíciles circunstancias que vive el país, la minería no le ha fallado a Chile”, afirmó el ejecutivo de Sonami.
Ocupación en regiones mineras La desocupación en las regiones mineras, en los últimos doce meses, registró una disminución, pues en el trimestre móvil octubre-diciembre de 2018 marcaba 7,3% mientras que en la última medición anotó 6,7%, esto es 0,6 puntos inferior. En el país en tanto, la tasa de desocupación alcanzó a 7% aumentando 0,3 puntos en un año.
“Sin embargo, a pesar que las regiones mineras están mostrando unasignificativa disminución del desempleo, lo que por cierto es muy positivo, preocupa que en Atacamase haya elevado 2,7 puntos y hoy con 9,7% marca el más alto nivel de desocupación entre todas las regiones del país. En la Región de Tarapacá disminuye 0,1 puntos, desde 6,8% hace un año a 6,7% en la actualidad; Antofagasta, capital minera de Chile, cae 1,9 puntos, desde 8,4% a 6,5%; y en Coquimbo baja 1,2 puntos desde 6,8% a 5,6%. Esperamos que esta positiva disminución del desempleo en el norte del país continúe en los próximos meses”, concluyó Álvaro Merino.
