Senado rechazó acusación constitucional contra Intendente Felipe Guevara
El Senado rechazó la acusación constitucional presentada por la oposición en contra del intendente Metropolitano, Felipe Guevara, por su rol en los hechos de violencia ocurridos tras el copamiento de Plaza Italia.
En una extensa sesión, la decisión fue tomada con 18 votos a favor, 15 en contra y dos abstenciones.
Un momento clave en la jornada fue la argumentación del senador Jorge Pizarro (DC), quien, pese a rechazar el rol del Ejecutivo, decidió enviar una «señal política» ante la debilidad de la acusación y se abstuvo de votar, decisión similar a la tomada por Carolina Goic.
El Presidente Sebastián Piñera había asegurado confiar en el Senado, ya que la acusación contra Guevara «no corresponde», debido a que «lo que ha hecho el intendente de Santiago es cumplir con su deber, de proteger el orden público y la seguridad ciudadana».
