En la mañana del 1 de febrero, a la edad de 88 años, dejó de existir  la distinguida dama copiapina María Berta de Lourdes Piffardi Feliú, realizándose su funeral el día domingo 2 en el Cementerio Parque de Copiapó, hasta donde llegaron los integrantes de su numerosa familia , un gran grupo de amistades e integrantes de agrupaciones en las cuales ella participó y colaboró activamente.

Aún sumidos en el dolor por su partida, una de los miembros de la familia quiso dejar un testimonio del cariño que le profesaron y además destacar sus virtudes a través del siguiente In Memorian:

“Maruja, Mami o Marujita como la llamamos con amor, es hija de Alberto y María Berta, nace en Santiago una linda mañana otoñal de 1931. Estudia en el Liceo de Niñas de Copiapó, a la vez que en su casa aprende y despliega todo su talento artístico al Piano, animando lindas tardes en el Teatro Municipal “El Rojo” de la capital de Atacama, cabe destacar que tocó para su familia hasta hace poco tiempo atrás, con dificultad, pero con talento y la fuerza del amor. Así mismo, fue un deleite escuchar sus cuentos que hablaban de alegrías de juventud copiapina, de fiestas de la primavera, de gente de época, de osadas decisiones propias, de amores, de vestimentas y detalles finos que no hacen más que transformarla en una leyenda de su familia y de su ciudad.

Amante de los cerros y colores de su querido Copiapó, Maruja forjó con temple y decisión inquebrantable una hermosa familia de cinco amados hijos: María Teresa, Berta, Arturito, Olga y Carlos. Ellos le dieron 8 nietos y 3 bisnietos, quienes le declaran su amor infinito y eterno, acompañándola hasta entregarla en manos de los ángeles que hoy han venido a elevarla a la presencia de su altísimo Señor. Ese mismo Señor Dios, y su madre María la Virgen, que la dotaron de fe, temple y fiereza para cuidar a su familia en momentos duros y difíciles de sus vidas, así como también a su comunidad, a través de grupos católicos como Legión de María y Juventud Católica, donde a través de la fe y la oración protegió la vida de propios y ajenos, sanos y enfermos.

No obstante su belleza física, sus variados dotes artísticos y culinarios, su cultura y su nobleza, Maruja se despojó de toda vanidad personal y egoísmo, para entregarlo todo a su esposo, hijos, nietos, bisnietos, nuera y yernos, que la lloran por el vacío de la ausencia, resignados al poder de Dios, que la reclamó para sentarla a su lado en la mesa celestial.
