500 trabajadores podrían quedar a la deriva en caso de cierre de Mina Alcaparrosa

*Informe definitivo de SERNAGEOMIN por socavón podría ordenar paralización de la faena. Ministerio del Trabajo estudia acciones en conjunto a la empresa para apoyar a los trabajadores. En tanto, desde Minera Ojos del Salado señalan que “han hecho todos los esfuerzos para que los trabajadores no se vean afectados”.

La situación generada por el socavón de Tierra Amarilla aún causa consecuencias e incertidumbre, especialmente en el mundo laboral, esto, porque se espera la entrega del informe definitivo de SERNAGEOMIN al respecto, que podría generar el cese de operaciones de mina Alcaparrosa, causando probablemente el despido de 500 trabajadores (directos de la empresa y en su mayoría indirectos a través de empresas contratistas).

Ante esta situación el Ministerio del Trabajo evalúa acciones destinadas a mitigar estos efectos, según comentó la Seremi del Trabajo Gladys Cortés. Además, el cierre de la mina podría causar problemas a empresas externas que trabajan para la faena ofreciendo servicios de alojamiento y alimentación, por ejemplo.

Respecto de la situación, Minera Ojos del Salado emitió un comunicado donde afirmó:
“Desde la suspensión de las faenas, producto de la aparición del socavón hace ya dos meses, Minera Ojos del Salado ha hecho todos los esfuerzos para que sus trabajadores no se vean afectados por la medida. La prioridad es y será mantener las fuentes laborales, siempre dentro de un marco realista sobre nuestras posibilidades. Así lo hemos comunicado a los trabajadores y autoridades y estamos comprometidos con minimizar impacto en las personas. Para esto estamos trabajando con las autoridades para coordinar nuestros esfuerzos”.
